Make money with a proxy - Case Study part 3
July 13, 2008 |
Now I have my proxy up and running. I have chosen a theme, added google adsense, and done some slight modifications to the code. I have added the support for users to watch youtube videos using the proxy, access content on myspace, and also check gmail. With these added features, I hope to satisfy my users, and keep them coming back, even though making the proxy able to view youtube videos will use more bandwidth.
Now for getting traffic to the proxy. My first initiative will be to buy a spot on this Free Proxy List. I will buy a premium listing here for $10. I will also go about putting my proxy on “top proxy” sites like proxies.vc. ProxyInter.net will bring immediate traffic to my proxy, while proxies.vc will help out my google PR. Both aspects are important.
Before submitting to proxies.vc we need to do some SEO work. Choosing keywords for my website is a very important step. After doing some research, I am choosing “Fast Myspace Proxy” as the title for my site. For this study, I will not do extensive SEO work to start with. I will rather wait until the proxy has some traffic, and backlinks, then analyze my traffic to see what is coming from google, and probably tweak my SEO work toward that.
So this far I have spent the following to get my proxy site up and running.
Domain Name with 1and1 - $6.99
Webhosting - $2.99
Premium listing on proxyinter.net - $10
So I have invested $20 so far into my new proxy. I should start seeing traffic immediatly coming from proxyinter.net. I will start tracking the earnings from my new “Fast Myspace Proxy” and report back soon.
I will also be submitting the site to at least a few “proxy topsites” like proxies.vc.
